Biography

Laura Knight is an award-winning children's book author, a surfer, creator of Friendly Planet Club, and an animal lover who lives in Southern California. She wrote "Kid Astronaut" to inspire children to discover adventurous careers in science and technology. Her unique choice-based format was designed to empower children to think about how their decisions can affect the outcome of the story.

Her fascination and appreciation for our planet is rooted in her childhood experience attending a Science Magnet Elementary School focused on an Earth and Life Science themed curricula. This is her second book which incorporates real science facts and photos to incite learning through imaginative, fictional tales.

The art of storytelling has always been Laura's passion, encouraging children to 'be your best' through heroic and unforgettable characters. She spent 15+ years as an accomplished Art Director in the toy industry, managing many popular children's brands. She stays busy visiting libraries and schools, sharing her message to "Be kind to the planet. Be kind to each other." by encouraging conversations with children about kindness and ocean conservation.
